Evaluation Question 7

Since the preliminary, I have understood many things such as we should always stick to our plan , if we don't then everything will get muddled up. I experienced that when I first filmed. we should always stick to the plan the storyboard.

During the process I also learnt about many camera techniques such as match cuts, the 180 degree rule. establishing shot, close up, low angle and many more. Whilst filming our opening we had to carefully think about our mise en scene, lighting and editing. since the preliminary we had to think about it so we dont make it too difficult.

This was when we done the prelim, this was how are lighting became.

And this was when we were filming out thriller opening, so you can tell the difference between the first time and the second.

Well when were filming our prelim our lighting at the beggninig wasn't too good it was too dark.  that's why we kept it in mind and remembered to have a better lighting area.

The mise en scene of our prelim well there wasn't much. However with our film we had to be careful that we had everything. The was a problem with our location, but then we had a back up plan. We made sure that we have the right props, everything was laid out properly.

over the shoulder shot

We had to tilt the camera to get the right position.

The titles and credits

And during the editing process we didn't find it too difficult to put it on order. The difficult part was when we had to do the little things and when we had to put the sound and credits in. we never done it for our prelim thats why we ha a bit of difficulty when we were doing it. especially sound.

Our camera angles we had to be careful, because in the bathroom there were many mirrors. we had to position the camera in the right place. and also so its hidden and cannot be shown. We did find it difficult  to actually find the 180 degrees rule, firstly we didn't no which side was right.

Overall I had learnt a lot of things during the process of filming my opening. I enjoyed as well, and also now that I have learnt about match cuts, jump cuts whenever i'm watching something. I found it much easier to notice them now.  I would say that from my prelim I have gained a lot more skills. like the 180 degrees and many more things. I would say in our final production i have learnt a lot and our final outcome came out to be very positive.

Evaluation - Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In our opening we made sure that we followed the conventions of an opening. We didn’t challenge or change the order as we thought it would be best to keep it simple and not over step it and make it complicated for ourselves.
- Production company ident
- Distribution company ident
- Music associated with those idents
- List of credits - directors, actors, casting etc..
- Title of film
- Find out where its set (location)
- Introduce main characters
- Find out hints about the storyline/situation/narrative
- Sets the mood and tone and outs into place the genre

We didn't challenge the convention of title sequences, down below are some pictures that I have put together with Our film on top of screen grabs of the film 'The Roomate'.. As you can see we followed the title sequence exactly and we even had similar font -it being simple white font, mostly coming up in the corners.

CONVENTIONS OF A TITLE SEQUENCE
- Production Company/ IDENT
- Production Company -Titles
- Production + Distribution
- Title of film
- Cast
- Casting Director
- Costume designer
- Music supervision
- Music by
- Editor
- Production designer
- Director of Photography
- Executive Producer

YAY WE'RE FINALLY FINISHED!

Our Thriller Opening: THE WOMAN

Sound editing - Soundtrack Pro.

This is when we were adding sound to our opening. Firstly we did find some difficulties in choosing the right sound, we just couldn't pick out the right sound. However eventually we found it and now our  sound is complete.
