An example of False plateau and Bomb theory in stepfather

Both of these techniques are used in stepfather. An example of false plateau is when their next door neighbour  is looking for her cat in the cupboard. But then her cat jumps out in front of her giving the audience relief because they were deceived into thinking that the stepfather was in there. However did they know that the stepfather was actually behind her. This puts the audience in shock!

Also during the film there is an example of the bomb theory, when the characters are totally unaware however their audience are well informed. Such as when the stepson Michael and girlfriend Kelly get suspicious on him and start looking for things in his parents room, we are cross cutting from two scene's one that shows David coming home and the other them looking for things. During this they are creating the bomb theory where the audience know everything and they are getting frustrated and tensed, due to that they may even scream and shout at the screen.
